With a history stretching back to 1778, Richard Garrett and Sons became one of Englands leading steam engine manufactures. By 1840 the first portable steam engine had been produced and under the guidance of the founders grandson the company developed and refined the engines; wining awards and accolades along the way.
By 1852 the forward thinking management had adopted American production methods and introduced an assembly line known as The Long Shop. The remaining building is today preserved as a museum, displaying a fine collection of Garretts products.
Research for the model was based on a detailed period engraving and reference to original factory sales literature and the full size engine was exhibited at the Derby Royal Show in 1881. A departure from the simple horizontal twin this model has a fully functioning compound cylinder arrangement. The Garrett offers an interesting challenge whilst producing an aesthetically pleasing and sizeable engine. The overall base dimension of the model is some 170mm x 405mm.

If your model engineering kit to machine is in stock at the time of ordering, where possible your order is dispatched the same or next working day. If your model is in production at the time of ordering, your payment card is not charged until your model is ready for dispatch. Customers placing an order that they require to be delivered on or before a certain date are advised to contact us directly.
UK orders are usually dispatched using Parcelforce's tracked, 'express 24 hour' service. This service makes delivery on business days only and for outlying or remote parts of the UK may take longer than 24 hours.
International orders may use Parcelforce's rapid Global Express, Euro Priority Business or Global Priority services. The initial stages of the checkout will calculate shipping to your country and select the most cost efficient shipping method we use before you commit to ordering a model. These services are some of the few on the market advertised as tracked and require signature / monitor delivery.
For both UK and International parcels, we have negotiated a significant, double-digit discount with our carrier and this is passed on to the customer. Customers considering ordering more than one model are advised to email us directly to gain where possible a combined shipping quotation since the website calculates costs on each model being shipped individually.
