Once table-top Plants were commonly available but now generally only to be found as collectors pieces. In offering the Cirrus plant it is hoped that the magic of owning and operating a miniature steam plant may once again form part of our 'after dinner' activities - for the benefit of children - of all ages!

The Thor boiler, modelled on the famous 'Babcock & Willcox' types, is designed to match the requirements of Cirrus both in terms of steam & looks. Spirit fired Thor is easy to use and will run out of fuel prior to water depletion.

Available in factory finished and tested form, the individually numbered Cirrus plants come with fully illustrated instructions and boiler report.

Owners of Cirrus plants may be assured of the 'in built' quality and look forward to many hours of enjoyment.

In essence the Cirrus plant is entirely self contained only requiring Water, fuel and oil to run. However such is the detail and number of fittings provided - operators will find each run enthralling - regulating speed - checking water - monitoring pressure - lubricating bearings to name but a few of the demands required of the Chief Engineer!

Close inspection reveals a genuine piece of model engineering with many features worthy of note.

The entire plant is soundly mounted on a substantial cast bed plate, with both engine and boiler being further founded on individual plates. In the case of the engine this foundation represents a decorative stone plynth complete with step.

The Thor Boiler, presented with brick effect to the sides and cast details to each end is specifically made for use with Cirrus. Of the 'Smithies' type, and including three re-circulating water tubes to the under side of the longitudinally stayed barrel. Fittings include Water Gauge with Blow Down, Whistle, Pressure Gauge with Syphon, Loco style Safety Valve & standard 1/4" x 40tpi connection.

Heat is provided by an efficient vapourising spirit lamp. Steam delivery to the engine is via a displacement lubricator and exhaust is taken to the chimney for authentic effect.

At the heart of the Perseus Electrical Generation Model Steam Engine plant is the period style Dynamo which is capable of delivering in the order of 6.v d.c 3W @ 2000rpm. The Dynamo is complimented with associated key items which include a voltage regulator concealed in industrial transformer style castings, an Ammeter/Voltmeter cabinet with precision moving coil instruments displaying 0 - 3A and 0 - 16v and working Victorian style street lamp.

Reliable operation is assured by the combination of the proven Perseus steam engine and efficient 2HRFP horizontal gas fired model steam engine boiler.

Perseus is produced from precision parts each carefully made and checked to ensure reliability in service. With a Cast iron flywheel Perseus offers smooth running and the classic mill engine layout includes twin pedestal bearings to the crank shaft, oil cup lubrication to the trunk guide and substantial cast bed plate.

The proven cylinder assembly is manufactured from non-ferrous metal and so not susceptible to the corrosion sometimes encountered with iron. Both the piston and valve rods pass through adjustable glands and the slide valve is readily accessible.

In common with all of our steam engine boilers, the 2HRFP type includes a 'blow down' on the water gauge enabling the reliable monitoring of boiler water content, miniature pressure gauge and robust safety valve. The 2HRFP boiler is also equipped with a handpump and the Cotswold Heritage Surefill re-filliable gas system to enable easy replenishment from a gas cartridge and is supplied with associated filler pipe and venting tool.

As with all Cotswold Heritage model steam engine plants, the Perseus Electrical Generation steam engine plant is individually numbered issued with a certificate of authenticity, comprehensive instructions and boiler report.
