Sometimes controversial in his approach Sir William was a man who inspired and enthused those around him. His many achievements including the famous swing bridge over the Tyne and the hydraulic plant that operated London’s Tower bridge.

It is this passion for hydraulics that the twin cylinder engine we have recreated, honours. Based on an contemporary engraving and research of the surviving engines now housed at the National Waterways Museum, Ellesmere Port. the model is a faithful representation of the 1870 Hydraulic pumping engine.

With a flywheel diameter of 180mm and cylinders of 19mm bore x 28mm stroke we expect this to be suitable for most home workshops.
